Owl Blue’s ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) project, supports sufferers of this condition and those who share their lives.
The Owl Blue ARFID Friends Support Group offers peer support, advice, and guidance. This face-to-face monthly meeting is held at the Settlement, High Street Maryport. This is a very casual, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere that allows information sharing in a private setting. This is free of charge and open to anyone who wishes to attend.
We understand that not everyone lives locally, or can take part, due to family and work commitments. Therefore, in the very near future, this meeting will also be available online.
The Owl Blue ARFID project was established in August 2022. In this very short time, it has been extremely successful, proving beneficial to those who use this service. In March 2023 Owl Blue confirmed its collaboration with the NHS North Cumbria and Northeast Eating Disorder Service. This is hoped to help promote and establish the neurodiverse lens on the ARFID condition and its framework within the NHS.
More recently, the Owl Blue ARFID Friends Support Group has been nominated and selected as a finalist in the Community Group of the Year category at the Pride of Cumbria Awards. This will be held on 15th June 2023 and is testament to the commitment and care shown at our meetings by our group members, for their wholehearted care and support of each other.
In just under twelve months this project has already accomplished so much; and continues to raise awareness and understanding of the ARFID condition and provide support for those who need it.
We look forward to sharing our future success with you.
If you require any information on this project or the support it provides, please don’t wait until the monthly meeting, feel free to contact: info@owlblue.org at any time.
