Over the past few months, Owl Blue (Geoff Evans, Nichola McDougall, Lisa Steele, and Hannah Pantlin) have been addressing the concerns and fears of the siblings of autistic children, by hosting sibling workshops.
During these free, two-hour sessions, we spoke to a lot of children who live every day trying to understand why their brothers and sisters are treated differently from them, and why allowances are made for autistic behavior when allowances are not made for them.
It was difficult and at times emotional listening to these children describe their families, their fears, and how they would like their life to be.
One thing which stood out beyond anything else was the kindness that every child showed towards this subject. So, parents please be proud because we certainly were. Owl Blue works hard to promote the kindness which just came naturally from your children.
We look forward to seeing you all and working with you again. For More information on Sibling Workshops, Please email: info@owlblue.org
